Meta unveiled the Meta VR Glasses, a lightweight headset priced at USD 1,299.99 and set to launch in Spring 2027. The device weighs only 100 grams thanks to an external pack that handles compute, battery, and storage.
The Meta VR Glasses feature a 5K Infinite Display with micro‑OLED panels, Dolby Vision, and Dolby Atmos. It is IMAX Enhanced certified and supports 3D movies on Disney+. Sports fans can stream immersive content from ESPN, TNT, MLB, and UFC.
Productivity tools include a multi‑screen workspace, virtual keyboard, and passthrough for awareness. Gaming is supported through hand gestures and Xbox Cloud Gaming.
Meta also introduced hologram calling, allowing lifelike video chats with depth and presence. The headset runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Reality Elite processor, delivering about 2.5K resolution per eye. Battery life is around three hours, with fast charging and the option to stay plugged in.
Meta positions the VR Glasses as a lighter and more affordable rival to Apple’s Vision Pro, which costs $3,699. CTO Andrew Bosworth credited Apple for inspiring the split‑architecture design but emphasized Meta’s focus on comfort and price. Unlike earlier Quest devices, Meta expects this model to be profitable.
