DICT Secretary Henry Aguda denied rumors that he has resigned, saying he is staying on and focused on his work. He stressed DICT’s role as the Philippines hosts ASEAN this year, with events like the ASEAN AI MSME gathering already planned.
The statement comes after reports that Aguda submitted a resignation letter to Malacañang following backlash over the short-lived Discord ban. The ban lasted less than a day but drew heavy criticism from gamers, developers, and remote workers. Civic tech group BetterGov.PH even filed a petition against Aguda and other officials, calling the ban illegal without judicial process.
Despite these reports, Palace Press Officer Claire Castro said there is no information about Aguda’s supposed resignation. She confirmed he continues to serve as DICT Secretary and is actively working on the department’s projects.

For now, Aguda remains in his post, focusing on continuity of DICT’s work and its role in ASEAN tech initiatives. This means ongoing digital infrastructure projects and government tech programs will continue under his leadership.
