DICT Secretary Henry Aguda allegedly submitted his resignation after weeks of controversy tied to the temporary Discord ban.
[Update: Secretary Henry Aguda has denied rumors that he has resigned. Details here.]
According to lawyer and blogger Jesus Falcis, Aguda’s letter has already reached the Presidential Management Staff. BitDigest News also reported the same claim.
Falcis posted on Facebook on October 6 that Aguda had filed his resignation letter with Malacañang. His post fueled speculation about the secretary’s future in the Department of Information and Communications Technology.
Reports say the move came after backlash from the public. The Discord ban, which lasted less than 24 hours, drew criticism from gamers, developers, and remote workers. Civic tech group BetterGov.PH even filed a petition against Aguda and other officials, arguing the blocking was illegal without judicial process.
Possible successors have already been floated, including DICT undersecretary David Almirol, former DICT undersecretary Monchito Ibrahim, and former Globe Telecom executive Anton Bonifacio.

For now, Malacañang has not confirmed Aguda’s resignation. If true, this could affect ongoing digital infrastructure projects and government tech initiatives. Readers should expect updates as the situation develops.
