By now, I’m sure a lot of people have heard about Apple unveiling the bigger iPhone 6, the even bigger iPhone 6 Plus and the Watch. Unless, you know, you were fast asleep like me, when Apple made their big announcement @1AM PST.
iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus:
Both iPhones feature Apple’s new 64 bit A8 chipset with M8 motion co-processor, an Ion-strengthened glass on top of their screens that curves to meet the edges, improved connectivity with a 20-band LTE and Wi-Fi ac support, and a much thinner profile. The iSight camera was also improved, featuring a new sensor with f/2.2 aperture, Focus Pixels for faster autofocus, and new video features like 1080p HD at 60 fps, slo-mo at 240 fps, and a time-lapse video mode. Other features include the all new iOS 8, Touch ID and Passbook with NFC technology.
The key difference between the two is the size of their screens. While both feature Retina Displays, the iPhone 6 has a 4.7 inch 1334 x 750 screen. On the other hand, the iPhone 6 Plus has a bigger 5.5 inch 1920 x 1080 full HD screen. The Plus sized variant also has a superior battery life and optical image stabilization as exclusive features.
The iPhone 6 is priced at $199 for the 16GB, $299 for the 64GB and $399 for 128GB.
The bigger iPhone 6 Plus retails for $299 for the 16GB, $399 for the 64GB and $499 for the 128GB.
One More Thing:
Apple also went ahead and announced their new iWatch Watch. It may not be the prettiest smart watch announced, but it was reported to have a nice user interface (looking at the pictures, its like a prettier Android Wear – sorry, had to put it out there). One of the unique features they added on the Watch is the Digital Crown. Traditionally, you use it to set the time and date. But on the Watch, it is used to zoom and scroll the screens. It will also take to the home screen when pressed.
The Watch also comes in 3 editions, namely the Watch, Watch Sport and Watch Edition.
And so that’s it for Apple’s big reveal. Looks interesting. I wonder if the iPhone 6 Plus will undercut some of the iPad Mini sales. Personally, I am curious as to how the iPhone 6’s camera performs. How about you? Are you excited, interested or meh?
