Samsung recently unveiled its first ODM smartphone in China. The Samsung Galaxy A6s is the first smartphone not made by Samsung.
ODM or original design manufacturer means the handset was outsourced to another company allowing them to save on costs. In this case, the Galaxy A6s was made by Wintech, the same manufacturers responsible for Xiaomi phones.
Samsung Galaxy A6s
The Samsung Galaxy A6s comes with a 6-inch full HD Super AMOLED display, an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, 6GB RAM, and 64GB and 128GB storage options.
It has a 12MP + 2MP camera at the back, with the secondary sensor offering depth information. For selfies, the phone relies on the 12MP shooter.

The Galaxy A6s also has a 3,300 mAh battery, a USB Type-C port, a rear fingerprint scanner, and Android 8.1 Oreo.
The China only phone starts at CNY 1,800. Converted locally, that’s around PHP13,900 (USD230), so it definitely looks like they have some savings there.

Samsung Galaxy A9s
Aside from the Galaxy A6s, Samsung also launched the quad camera Galaxy A9s. Its the same as the Galaxy A9 and comes with a 24MP (f/1.7 AF), 10MP Telephoto (f/2.4, AF, 2X optical zoom), 8MP Ultra Wide (f/2.4, 120-degrees), and a 5MP Depth (f/2.2).
The Galaxy A9 also features a 6.3-inch Super AMOLED display with an 18.5:9 aspect ratio, an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor, 6GB RAM, and 128GB of expandable storage.
It runs on Samsung Experience OS on top of Android Oreo, powered by a 3,800 mAh battery.
This one is priced at CNY3,500 or PHP27,100 / USD503. It is available for pre-order in China.
