vivo remains one of the top brands in the Philippines, despite the sharp decline of global smartphone shipments in 2020.
According to the International Data Corporation’s (IDC) Quarterly Mobile Phone Tracker, the brand was sitting at top spot as the number one smartphone vendor in the country in Q2 2020. In Q3 2020, vivo slid to number 2 backed by its 66.7 percent annual growth and overall market share of 14.3 percent, besting mega brands like OPPO, Huawei and Samsung.
At number one is realme, who clinched the top spot behind an record breaking annual growth of 962.5 percent and a 25.4 percent market share in Q3 2020.
vivo managed the feat with its focus on low-end smartphones. It was further boosted with the launch of its 5G-enabled X series flagships.
For 2020, its best selling device is the vivo Y11 which features a large 6.35-inch HD display, powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 processor. It also packs a large 5,000mAh battery, a rear mounted fingerprint scanner, a 13MP main camera, and an 8MP selfie shooter. The 2GB + 32GB model retails for only Php 5,499.
The real winner here is BKK Electronics. The conglomerate owns vivo, realme, OPPO, and OnePlus. Three of the four brands mentioned belong to the top 5.
