Is Messenger down? Some users unable to send messages

Is Messenger down right now? If you’re one of those affected, you may have trouble sending messages.

UPDATE 02.19.21, 11:41am: Issue seems to have been resolved. The number of reports on Downdetector are going down.

According to Downdetector.com, Facebook Messenger (along with Facebook and Instagram in some countries) are having issues. As of this moment (Feb. 19, 2021, 10:32am), there are 687 reports thus far.

Is Facebook Messenger down?

The issue is not as widespread as it looks like its only affecting some countries such as the US. In the Philippines, some users are affected. I myself experienced delayed sending a few times today.

At this point, the reason for the issue remains unclear. From those that reported, around 57-percent can’t connect to the server, 29-percent are having trouble receiving messages, and around 13-percent are unable to log-in.

Last December 2020, Facebook Messenger experienced similar issues where users were unable to send messages, while others app crashed.

Right now, the issues I an no longer experiencing any issues. We’ll update this post once we get more information about it.
