Xiaomi 12, 12 Pro launched with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, 120Hz display

Xiaomi launched its latest flagship phones, the Xiaomi 12 and 12 Pro. Both handsets in the 12 series are one of the firsts to come with Qualcomm’s newest Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processors.

Xiaomi 12

As a non-Pro model, the Xiaomi 12 is the vanilla handset of the series. Its still a proper flagship, mind you, minus one highfalutin feature. The phone has a smaller 6.28-inch FHD AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision support, an in-display fingerprint scanner, and Gorilla Glass Victus protection.

Of course, it has the aforementioned Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 processor with 8GB or 12GB RAM and 128GB or 256GB storage. You also get the Harman Kardon tuned stereo speakers and Bluetooth 5.2 to make up for the lack of a headphone jack.

The handset has three cameras at the back. The main camera has a 50MP Sony IMX766 sensor with OIS. The other two shooters are a 13MP ultra-wide and a 5MP telemacro. Meanwhile, selfies are handled by a 32MP front camera.

As for the battery, it has a 4500mAh with a 67W wired fast charging, a 50W wireless fast charging, and a 10W reverse charging.

The Xiaomi 12 comes in black, blue, green, and pink colorways. The 8GB+128GB is priced at CNY 3,699, the 8GB+256GB at CNY 3,999, and the top tier 12GB+256GB at CNY 4,399. At the moment, it’s a China-only handset. Global pricing and availability will likely be announced at a later date.

You do get the same display features though, such as the 120Hz Refresh Rate, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, the in-display fingerprint scanner, and the Gorilla Glass Victus.

The phone has three 50MP cameras, but the main one is backed by a newer Sony IMX707 sensor. The other two have an ultra-wide and a telephoto lens. Interestingly, the 12 Pro has Xiaomi’s new CyberFocus, a proprietary technology that can identify multiple subjects and focus the camera accordingly.
