HBO GO: Affordable subscription plan, how to avail in the Philippines

Almost everyone has Netflix nowadays, but if you enjoy streaming movies (or want to get rid of your cable subscription altogether) then you should consider giving HBO GO a try.

HBO GO is an underrated streaming platform, offering popular movies and TV shows, as well as its own roster of original content. It may not have a library as extensive as Netflix, but it does have its own merits.

For one, you get a good amount of new movies, usually, right after their run in theaters. Another is an option to view a live broadcast from HBO, HBO Signature, HBO Hits, HBO Family, and Cinemax.

So is it worth our money, you might ask? Well, considering what it offers for the price, yes.

What it offers

You can watch movies and shows streamed from the HBO GO app or through your browser on www.HBOGOAsia.ph.

Like other streaming services, HBO GO offers HD streaming, content download options, viewing continuity across devices, and parental control features.

Subscribers can download up to 20 pieces of content. Downloaded content will expire up to 30 days after download, or 48 hours after you pressed play, whichever comes first. Some content is not available for download. The service also offers Live TV, which is a live broadcast of HBO, HBO Signature, HBO Hits, HBO Family, and Cinemax.

Each account can have up to 3 concurrent streams and up to 10 registered devices.

HBO GO Subscription Plan Price

HBO GO only has one subscription plan and it’s only for Php 149 per month which renews every month. You can also opt for a 3-month plan for Php 299 which renews every 3 months. New subscribers will get a 7-day free trial period.

I availed of the 3-month plan because it’s cheaper (at Php 100 per month) and I don’t have to think about it until it renews.

How to subscribe to HBO GO

To start, download the HBO GO app from the App Store or from the Play Store. From there, you can create an account and select your preferred payment option.

There are multiple ways of subscribing to the service. I opted to pay via in-app purchase, which charges your Apple App Store or Google PlayStore account.
