Summer MMFF receives overwhelming response from filmmakers, says MMDA

The Metro Manila Film Festival’s (MMFF) first-ever summer edition, happening this April, has received an overwhelming response from filmmakers and producers, said the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).

The festival received a total of 33 film submissions, including 23 new films and 10 resubmissions from the December 2022 MMFF.

This is a historical moment, as the MMFF received the highest number of film submissions to date, according to MMDA Acting Chairman and MMFF Over-all Chair, Atty. Don Artes.

The MMDA and the film industry are both excited and looking forward to the success of this festival, which is another opportunity to showcase local talent in making world-class Filipino films.

The eight official entries for the festival will be announced on February 24, based on the following criteria: artistic excellence (40%), commercial appeal (40%), Filipino cultural sensibility (10%), and global appeal (10%).
