James Cameron’s ‘Avatar: The Way of Water’ to stream on Disney+ on June 7

It is the third highest-grossing film of all time with nearly $2.32 billion at the box office worldwide.

The long-awaited sequel to the 2009 blockbuster “Avatar” is finally coming to Disney+ on June 7. “Avatar: The Way of Water” will be available to stream for subscribers of the service.

The film, directed and produced by James Cameron, debuted in theaters in December 2022 and became the third highest-grossing film of all time worldwide with nearly $2.32 billion at the box office. It was also nominated for several Academy Awards, including Best Picture, and won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects.

Avatar: The Way of Water

“Avatar: The Way of Water” continues the story of Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), who live with their family on the alien moon of Pandora. When a familiar threat returns to finish what was started, they must work with the Na’vi army to protect their home and their people. The film introduces new Na’vi cultures and a range of exotic sea creatures that inhabit the oceans of Pandora.

The film also stars Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang, Cliff Curtis, and Kate Winslet, as well as newcomers Britain Dalton, Jamie Flatters, Trinity Jo-Li Bliss, Bailey Bass, and Jack Champion.

Avatar: The Way of Water on Disney+

“Avatar: The Way of Water” is the second installment in a planned five-film saga that Cameron has been developing for over a decade. The next three films are expected to be released in 2024, 2026, and 2028, respectively.
