A price hike was long coming. And it looks like it’s happening sooner. Disney+ is set to increase the price of its subscription plans in the Philippines. The new prices will take effect starting April 24, 2024.
They will also rename the Mobile Plan to the Basic Plan and it will come with some feature changes, including an upgraded compatibility of devices and a maximum number of users.
The Basic Plan will be priced at P249 monthly or P1,990 annually. Meanwhile, the Premium Plan will be at P519 monthly or P4,190 annually. The new prices are close to the current offering of Netflix’s own Basic and Premium Plans, which cost P249 and P549 per month, respectively.
As always, the Basic and Premium Plans differ in their features, by the number of concurrent streams, and in audio and video quality.
Currently, the Mobile Plan is priced at P159 monthly or P1,150 annually and offers 720p or HD video quality for 1 user. It is compatible with phones and tablets only. While the Premium Plan is priced at P369 monthly or P2,950 annually with up to 4K Ultra HD video quality for up to 4 concurrent users. This one is compatible with phones, tablets, laptops, smart TVs, and more.
Disney+ came to the Philippines in October 2022. A price change was long coming as the platform increased its subscription costs in other countries. Interestingly, Netflix recently dropped its prices in the country.
