A humorous video by TNT, the Philippines’ leading mobile brand, has earned international recognition as the best TV material by Bestads, a website that showcases the world’s best advertisements.
The video, titled “Tattoo,” is part of TNT’s campaign to encourage subscribers to register their SIMs to avoid permanent deactivation. It features a man who tries to claim his cash at a remittance center but fails to provide his one-time password (OTP) because he does not have a registered SIM. He then resorts to showing his various identification documents tattooed on his body.
The video has gone viral on social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and TikTok, racking up over 40 million views and drawing praise from netizens for its wit and creativity.
“This film reminded me how good it feels to laugh,” said Maria Devereux, head of innovation and executive creative director at Accenture Song, North America, who selected the video as the best TV material for the week of May 10-16. “A simple idea that touched on a relatable pain point for anyone who hates the complexity of life admin, which as far as I can tell, is pretty much everyone,” she added.
According to the latest data from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), Smart and TNT have registered 44.9 million subscribers as of May 8, leading the SIM registration in the country with 67.75 percent of their declared subscriber base.
The deadline for SIM registration has been extended until July 25, 2023. To register, TNT and Smart Prepaid subscribers can visit https://simreg.smart.com.ph/, while Smart Bro subscribers can refer to http://www.smart.com.ph/viewbroadbandsms for instructions on getting their OTP. Smart Postpaid users are already considered registered.
