Apple’s Worldwide Developer Conference (WWDC) 2023 had a special guest appearance from none other than Hideo Kojima, the legendary game maker behind Metal Gear and Death Stranding. Kojima announced that his latest game, Death Stranding: Director’s Cut, is coming to Mac later this year.
Death Stranding: Director’s Cut is an enhanced version of the original game that launched in 2019 for the PlayStation 4 and in 2020 for PC. It features new content, improved graphics, and additional gameplay options. The Director’s Cut was released for PlayStation 5 and PC in 2021.
Kojima also revealed that he is working to bring his future titles to Apple platforms, thanks to the power and performance of the new M2 chips. He did not specify which titles he was referring to, but he is known to be working on a sequel to Death Stranding, as well as a new game for Xbox Game Studios.
Death Stranding is a unique and ambitious game that blends action, adventure, and social elements. It stars Norman Reedus as Sam Porter Bridges, a courier who must deliver cargo across a post-apocalyptic America that has been ravaged by mysterious phenomena known as the Death Stranding. Along the way, he encounters other players, enemies, and celebrities such as Mads Mikkelsen, Guillermo del Toro, and Conan O’Brien.
The game received critical acclaim for its originality, storytelling, and visuals. It won several awards, including Best Game Direction and Best Score/Soundtrack at The Game Awards 2019.
Death Stranding: Director’s Cut for Mac will be available sometime this year. Apple has not announced the exact release date or price yet.
