Samsung officially launches the Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ in the Philippines, featuring the Exynos 2400 for Galaxy chipset, a triple camera setup, and a host of AI features.
The Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are the successors of the Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23+, which were released last year. The new phones have a similar design and shape, except for the frame, which has a matte coating.
The Galaxy S24 has a 6.2-inch FHD Dynamic 2X AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate, 8GB of RAM, up to 512GB of storage, and a 4000mAh battery with 25W fast charging.
The Galaxy S24+, on the other hand, has a 6.7-inch Dynamic 2X AMOLED display, but with a QHD resolution. It also has more RAM with 12GB and a larger 4900mAh battery with a faster 45W fast charging.
Both phones have a triple camera setup at the back, consisting of a 50MP main camera with OIS, a 12MP ultra-wide camera, and a 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. The front camera is a 12MP sensor underneath a tiny hole punch cutout at the top center of the screen.
The Galaxy S24 Series also uses a variety of recycled materials, applying recycled plastics, glass, and aluminum to internal and external components. It is also the first Galaxy S series made with recycled steel and Thermoplastic Polyurethane (TPU), making them more eco-friendly. Additionally, the packaging box is made from 100% recycled paper material.
The Philippine market is getting the Exynos 2400 for Galaxy chipset devices. Qualcomm’s flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor is reserved for the Galaxy S24 Ultra. The phones come with Wi-Fi 6e and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, Samsung Knox support, an in-display fingerprint scanner, dual speakers, and IP68 certification.
The biggest highlight of the Galaxy S24 Series is Galaxy AI, which is baked into One UI 6.1. Some of the new AI features include the following:
- Live Translate – A two-way, real-time voice and text translation of phone calls within the native app.
- Interpreter – Live conversations can be instantly translated on a split-screen view. It even works without cellular data or Wi-Fi.
- Chat Assist – Live edits conversational tones to ensure communication sounds as intended.
- Android Auto – Automatically summarize incoming messages and suggest relevant replies and actions, like sending someone your ETA.
- Note Assist in Samsung Notes – It features AI-generated summaries, template creation that streamlines notes with pre-made formats, and cover creation.
- Transcript Assist – Uses AI and Speech-to-Text technology to transcribe, summarize, and even translate recordings.
- Circle to Search with Google – With a long press on the home button, users can circle, highlight, scribble on, or tap anything on Galaxy S24’s screen to see helpful, high-quality search results.
- Galaxy AI editing tools – Uses Galaxy AI to suggest suitable tweaks for photos, including Edit Suggestion, Generative Edit, and Instant Slow-mo.
The Samsung Galaxy S24 and Galaxy S24+ are available in four colors: Onyx Black, Marble Gray, Cobalt Violet, and Amber Yellow. The prices and availability of the phones will be announced soon.
