Nothing revealed that the Nothing Phone (2a) will be powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7200 Pro chipset. The announcement comes after Nothing co-founder Carl Pei denied the rumors that the Phone (2a) will have a Dimensity 7200 processor, which is a lower-end variant of the Pro version.

In a video posted on YouTube, Nothing explained why they chose the custom Dimensity 7200 Pro over other options, such as the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 and the Snapdragon 782G, which are more popular in the UK market.

They went with the Dimensity 7200 Pro because it offers superior performance and efficiency, thanks to its second-generation 4nm process technology. Moreover, it was developed by TSMC, the world’s leading chipmaker.

The device might also come with 12GB of RAM and up to 8GB RAM booster, as seen in the video.

The company also explained some of the Phone (2a)’s software enhancements. The file system is optimized for faster and smoother performance. File transfers to Windows computers are also quicker. And battery life has significantly improved compared to the Phone (1).

As for the rest of its features, expect a 6.7-inch FHD+ OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, two 50MP cameras for the main and ultra-wide, a 32MP selfie shooter, and Nothing OS 2.5 on top of Android 14.

The device will support 45W fast charging and feature a variation of Nothing’s Glyph Interface, the LED light pattern that can be customized by the user. It will also have a transparent design, similar to the previous models, which showcases the internal components of the phone.

As for the price, another leak says the Phone (2a) will be priced at USD 400 (around P22,400), making it a mid-range offering from the company.

The Nothing Phone (2a) is set to make its global debut on March 5, 2024, as the third smartphone from the company, following the Phone 1 and 2.

Nothing Phones and accessories are available in the Philippines, distributed by Digital Walker, the official partner of Nothing in the country. However, the company has not yet announced the official price and availability of the Phone (2a) in the local market.
