Meralco announced a yellow alert for the Luzon grid today, June 3, raising concerns about potential power interruptions.
The yellow alert, which means there are insufficient operating power reserves, is currently in effect from 2:01 pm to 4:00 pm and will resume later this evening from 7:01 pm to 10:00 pm. Meralco attributes the alert to low power supply and dwindling reserves from Luzon power plants.
The announcement follows a day of normalcy for the Luzon grid after yellow and red alerts were raised on Saturday.
Authorities are yet to announce any planned rotational brownouts. However, the yellow alert serves as a warning of potential power interruptions during the designated times.
Meralco is encouraging consumers to practice conservation efforts, such as switching off non-essential appliances, to help alleviate pressure on the grid.
Expect further updates on the power situation and potential brownouts from Meralco and the Department of Energy.
