PH government launches Digital National ID

The digital national ID is accessible via website or the eGov PH app.

The Philippine government took a huge step towards digitalization with the launch of the Digital National ID, an initiative of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) and the Department of Information and Communication (DICT).

The Digital National ID has been available on the eGovPH app for some time now. It serves as an official digital version of the physical ID card, accessible through smartphones or computers with an internet connection.

To access, Filipinos can just go to the official PSA website or download the eGovPH app. Facial verification and basic demographic information are required for confirmation.

Over 87 million Filipinos have registered for the PhilSys program, which resulted in a backlog in the production of physical national ID cards. The digital ID hopes to bridge this gap, allowing those waiting for the physical card to access their identification electronically.

The government also launched the National ID eVerify (https://everify.gov.ph/) for government agencies and private establishments. This platform allows institutions to securely verify data in real time.

Additionally, the National ID Check feature allows for quick validation of IDs by scanning the QR code.
