MMDA: CCTV cameras not just for NCAP, but for crime prevention too

They also help prevent crime and improve public safety by supporting law enforcement.

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) clarified that its CCTV cameras serve a double purpose: they are not just for the No Contact Apprehension Policy (NCAP), but also used for crime prevention and public safety.

On a post on its official Facebook account, MMDA said it uses its surveillance system not just to monitor covered roads for traffic violations, but also for election security, rally monitoring, and other major events like the State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Moreover, law enforcement agencies such as the Philippine National Police (PNP) also request CCTV footage from the MMDA to help in crime investigations. The agency accommodates these requests to support security efforts.

By providing real-time surveillance, MMDA’s NCAP CCTV network also improves security, reduces response times, and helps maintain order in public spaces.
