GCash and Huawei launch first wearable payment feature in the Philippines

Watch Pay allows GCash users to make QR payments directly from their Huawei smartwatches.

GCash and Huawei have launched Watch Pay, a new feature that lets users make payments using their Huawei smartwatches. It’s the first wearable payment option of its kind in the Philippines.

With Watch Pay, users can link their GCash account to a compatible Huawei smartwatch. The watch then generates a QR code that merchants can scan at checkout.

This means users can pay straight from their smartwatch, without needing to pull out their phone or wallet.

Watch Pay works with select Huawei smartwatches and is supported by stores that use Business Scan Consumer technology. The feature is expected to benefit up to 7 million Huawei smartwatch users in the Philippines.
