Smart reallocates 3G resources to boost 5G capacity nationwide

The telco also urges SIM and device upgrades for faster connectivity across the Philippines.

Smart Communications is accelerating its 5G rollout across the Philippines to improve mobile connectivity and meet rising data demands. The company said it is reallocating resources from its legacy 3G network to boost 5G capacity in high-traffic areas, aiming to deliver faster speeds and lower latency to more users.

Following the launch of its 5G Max service in Taguig City, Smart plans to expand the enhanced network experience to Visayas and other key regions. The move is part of its broader strategy to modernize mobile infrastructure and support digital adoption nationwide.

To maximize 5G coverage, Smart and its value brand TNT are urging customers to upgrade to 5G-ready SIM cards and devices. Free SIM upgrades are available via the Smart hotline (*888) or at Smart Stores. Users can check SIM compatibility by texting SIMCHECK to 5832.

Flexible installment plans for 5G-capable phones are also being offered to improve accessibility.

Accelerating 5G deployment will enable more Filipinos to benefit from next-generation mobile services and be part of the digital economy.
