realme GT 8 Series to launch on October 21, teased with swappable camera housing

Features a 7,000 mAh battery, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and 144Hz gaming display.

realme has confirmed the launch date for its upcoming realme GT 8 series. The phones will debut in China on October 21 at 3:00 PM local time.

The GT 8 Pro was teased to feature an interchangeable camera housing. The design allows users to swap the rear camera module. While realme hasn’t detailed how the system works, teasers suggest a magnetic or slide-in mechanism.

The GT 8 Pro also packs a larger 7,000 mAh battery, up from 6,500 mAh in the GT 7 Pro. It supports 120W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging. Bypass charging is included.

Despite the bigger battery and wireless coil, the phone is thinner and lighter. It measures 8.2mm and weighs 214g.

Inside, the GT 8 Pro runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. It’s paired with a custom R1 gaming display chip that boosts resolution and frame rates. realme says the chip supports QHD gaming at 144Hz and is tuned for titles like Valorant Mobile and Arena Breakout.
