Xiaomi has unveiled the Redmi Turbo 5 in China, the first smartphone powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 8500-Ultra.
The new chip is paired with LPDDR5 Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. It also has a vapor chamber cooling system that helps keep temperatures in check during heavy use.
The Turbo 5 features a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, 1.5K resolution, and up to 3,500 nits of peak brightness. It supports HDR10+ and Dolby Vision.
One of its highlights is the large 7,560mAh battery. It supports 100W wired charging and 27W reverse wired charging, allowing the phone to power other devices.
For optics, the Turbo 5 carries a 50MP Sony IMX882 main camera alongside an 8MP ultrawide. On the front, a 20MP shooter handles selfies and video calls.
Other features include an in-display fingerprint scanner, stereo speakers, an IR blaster, and connectivity options that include Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.4, and NFC.
The phone runs Android 16 with HyperOS 3. It has a metal frame and glass back, measuring 8.18mm thick and weighing 204g.
The Redmi Turbo 5 comes in Auspicious Cloud White, Light Sea Green, and Shadow Black. Prices start at CNY 1,999 (around PHP 16,950 / USD 290 / INR 26,500) for the 12GB+256GB variant, with the top 16GB+512GB model priced at CNY 2,599 (around PHP 22,040 / USD 370 / INR 34,460). There’s no information yet on availability in other regions.
