Apple and Samsung led the global smartphone market in 2025, according to the latest data from Omdia. Worldwide shipments grew 2 percent to 1.25 billion units, the highest since 2021. Most regions saw growth, except Greater China, which dipped after subsidies ended. Both companies also led the global tablet market.
Apple shipped a record 240.6 million iPhones, up 7 percent year-on-year. The iPhone 17 series drove demand, with sales in China rising 26 percent in the fourth quarter. Samsung also grew 7 percent, after three years of decline. Its shipments jumped 16 percent in Q4, thanks to its entry-level and mainstream models.
Xiaomi stayed in third place but dropped 2 percent. vivo climbed to fourth for the first time, thanks to strong sales in India and its home market.
OPPO ranked fifth with 100.7 million units, down 3 percent, though it showed late-year recovery. HONOR, Lenovo, Huawei, and Nothing also posted gains, with Nothing up 86 percent to more than 3 million units.
