OpenAI to add Sora video tool in ChatGPT

OpenAI is set to bring its video generator Sora into ChatGPT, according to a report from The Information. This means users will soon be able to create videos directly inside the chatbot, alongside text and images.

Sora was first introduced as a standalone app in September 2025. It allowed users to create and share AI‑generated videos in a feed. While interest in the app has slowed since launch, OpenAI says it will continue to operate the standalone version even after Sora is added to ChatGPT.

The move comes as Google and Meta push their own text‑to‑video tools. By adding Sora to ChatGPT, OpenAI will be able to keep pace in the fast‑growing space of AI‑powered content creation.

Video generation is seen as the next step after text and image models, with uses ranging from entertainment to marketing.

OpenAI has not yet confirmed the addition of Sora to ChatGPT. It is also unclear if the feature will be available to free users or limited to paid plans.
