Meta has started testing a premium subscription called Instagram Plus in the Philippines, Mexico, and Japan. The service offers users more control and engagement tools for Instagram Stories, separate from the Meta Verified program.
Instagram Plus adds features such as anonymous Story viewing, the ability to see how many people rewatched a Story, and unlimited audience lists beyond Close Friends.
Subscribers can also extend Story visibility for another 24 hours, spotlight one Story per week for higher reach, give animated “Superlikes,” and search viewer lists more easily.
Competitors like Snapchat+ and X Premium already offer similar paid features, which means there’s demand for enhanced social experiences. However, subscription fatigue is real.
In the Philippines, Instagram Plus costs ₱65 per month. Pricing is set at MX$39 in Mexico and ¥319 in Japan. That’s roughly equivalent to USD 1 to 2.

Meta has not yet confirmed if the new feature will expand globally. For now, the test markets will help the company gauge interest and refine the offering.
