Google is rolling out a new Chrome update that will bring faster page load on mobile devices. Starting with Chrome 148, the browser will support lazy loading for video and audio files.
Lazy loading means Chrome only loads media elements when they are needed. Instead of downloading all videos and audio at once, the browser waits until users scroll to them. This will reduce data use and speed up initial page loads, especially on sites with heavy media content.
The feature is available on both Android and iOS, and it will also apply to other Chromium-based browsers such as Microsoft Edge, Brave, Opera, and Vivaldi. Developers have long used lazy loading for images, and extending it to video and audio will bring consistent performance gains across platforms.

For users, this means pages will open faster, use less mobile data, and make browsing feel smoother. This will be particularly useful for those on limited data plans or slower connections.
