God of War Laufey announced, starring Faye on PS5

Sony Santa Monica has announced God of War Laufey, the newest entry in the series, revealed during PlayStation’s State of Play showcase. This time, the story shifts to Faye, Kratos’s deceased wife and Atreus’s mother, who awakens in a realm called the Everywhen.

The story follows Faye as she fights through the afterlife of the gods to protect her family. She faces deities from different mythologies, including Sekhmet and Begtse, in a world where legends collide.

The studio said the game features “intimate, brutal combat” with exploration and improved mobility, letting Faye battle seamlessly on the ground and in the air (similar to Kratos in the God of War series).

The developers blend modern mechanics with the DNA of the classic Greek-era titles, keeping the experience fresh but familiar.

The game is directed by Ariel Lawrence, a longtime member of the series team. Deborah Ann Woll returns as Faye, joined by Jack Quaid as Phranque and Perlina Lau as Rue.

Santa Monica Studio’s last major release was God of War Ragnarök in 2022. Cory Barlog, director of the 2018 game, is reportedly involved in this project, adding weight to its creative direction.
