Sony announced that prices for PlayStation consoles, including the PS5, PS5 Pro, and PlayStation Portal, will increase globally beginning April 2, 2026. On a blog post, the company cited economic pressures and the need to sustain “innovative, high-quality gaming experiences” as the reason behind the adjustment.
In the United States, the PS5 will retail at $649.99, the PS5 Digital Edition at $599.99, and the PS5 Pro at $899.99. The PlayStation Portal remote player will cost $249.99. Similar increases were confirmed for the UK, Europe, and Japan. For example, the PS5 Pro will now sell for £789.99 in the UK and ¥137,980 in Japan.
Sony said the decision was made to ensure long-term support for the PlayStation ecosystem. While the company acknowledged the impact on players, it framed the move as necessary to maintain product quality and service delivery.
The announcement has already triggered strong reactions from the gaming community. Retailers in some regions report increased demand ahead of the hike, with buyers rushing to get units before the new prices take effect.

It is not yet clear if (or when) the new price changes will extend to other markets, including the Philippines.
