Sony is raising the price of the PlayStation 5 in Southeast Asia. It would take effect starting May 1, 2026. This follows earlier increases in the U.S., U.K., Europe, and Japan that took effect in April.
The company says the move is due to global economic pressures — meaning costs are going up, and Sony wants to keep delivering quality gaming experiences without cutting corners.
New Prices in Southeast Asia
- Philippines: PS5 – ₱40,032
- Singapore: PS5 – SGD 849 | PS5 Pro – SGD 1,167 | Portal – SGD 347
- Malaysia: PS5 – MYR 2,799 | PS5 Pro – MYR 3,999 | Portal – MYR 1,099
- Thailand: PS5 – THB 20,990 | PS5 Pro – THB 30,990 | Portal – THB 8,380
- Indonesia: PS5 – IDR 11,399,000 | PS5 Pro – IDR 15,199,000 | Portal – IDR 5,199,000

The price hike isn’t just regional. In April, Sony adjusted prices worldwide: $649.99 in the U.S., £569.99 in the U.K., €649.99 in Europe, and ¥97,980 in Japan.
For players in the Philippines, that ₱40,032 price tag makes the PS5 much harder to reach, especially with demand still strong. Sony insists the increase is necessary to keep pushing for innovation and quality.
At the time of writing, PS5 prices in DataBlitz and GameOne still hover around the ₱30,790 mark for the standard Slim Disc version.

It will be interesting to see how gamers in Southeast Asia will respond. Will higher prices slow down console adoption, or will demand stay strong despite the added cost?
