Apple has officially moved the iPhone X and the 15-inch 2018 MacBook Pro from its vintage list to the obsolete products list. This means both devices are no longer eligible for repairs or parts from Apple and its service partners.
Apple usually marks products obsolete more than seven years after they stop selling them. The iPhone X, launched in 2017, and the 2018 MacBook Pro have now reached that point. Both are capped at their final software versions: iOS 16.7.16 for the iPhone X and macOS 15.7.7 for the MacBook Pro.
The vintage list covers devices between five and seven years old, which can still be serviced if parts are available. Once moved to obsolete, repair centers can’t order replacement parts anymore. For Macs, battery service may still be offered for up to ten years, but only if parts remain in stock.
The iPhone X was the first iPhone with Face ID and a full-screen OLED display. The 2018 MacBook Pro pushed thinner designs with more powerful hardware. Both were important in Apple’s lineup but now mark the end of their official support cycle.

For users still holding on to these devices, the change means relying on third-party repair shops or considering an upgrade. Apple continues to refresh its lineup every year, and this move clears the way for newer models.
