Roblox is under fire after the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said extremist chats were found on the platform. DILG Secretary Jonvic Remulla warned that grooming and violent conversations targeting minors were more common on Roblox than in other shooter games. He added that these activities were happening worldwide.
Authorities reported chat groups using criminal language and pushing violence among teenagers. This comes after Remulla’s earlier call for a total ban on Roblox following the August 18 shooting at Ateneo de Zamboanga University, which he linked to online influences.
Roblox responded by stressing its focus on child safety. The company pointed to safeguards already in place, such as filters that block personal information sharing, restrictions on image and video sharing in chats, and age checks that limit interactions to peers of similar age.
Roblox also uses AI detection systems, employs monitoring teams, and provides reporting tools for users. The platform said it works with law enforcement to address harmful behavior.

The DILG’s warning puts more pressure on Roblox to strengthen protections for young players. The issue shows the growing challenge of keeping online spaces safe for children while still allowing access to popular platforms.
