Roblox will work with Philippine lawmakers by appointing a legal representative in the country. Senator Risa Hontiveros confirmed it after a meeting with Roblox’s Asia advisers on September 16, as part of the proposed SAGIP Bata Act.
The plan is related to the proposed SAGIP Bata Act, which requires online platforms to have a Philippine-based contact for subpoenas, takedown requests, blocking orders, and account information. Hontiveros said fast action is critical when children face risks of grooming or online abuse, and authorities need a clear point of contact.
Roblox confirmed it already coordinates with local law enforcement but is open to formalizing the process. Lawmakers want cooperation to be consistent across platforms, not dependent on informal arrangements.
This comes after Roblox faced warnings earlier this year over reports of child grooming on the platform. The Department of Information and Communications Technology ruled out a nationwide ban after Roblox committed to stronger safety measures.
Roblox also agreed to explore integrating the Philippine Identification System into its age and identity checks. The Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center is reviewing privacy safeguards for age-verification systems used by gaming and social media platforms.

Roblox’s decision to appoint a local representative means authorities will have faster access in urgent child safety cases. If the SAGIP Bata Act becomes law, platforms will be required to comply with the same setup.
