Roblox is on a three‑month probation in the Philippines, according to the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).
The gaming platform is required to strengthen its safety features, including parental controls and age verification, to comply with Philippine laws.
As part of the agreement, Roblox pledged to improve its safety measures and set up a “green lane” for faster coordination with the CICC and the Philippine National Police. This will allow authorities to respond more quickly to public complaints and reports of harmful content.
Since late March, the CICC’s Cybercrime Complaint Center has received more than 50 reports through email, Facebook, and direct communication from users.
The CICC acknowledged Roblox’s importance to Filipino developers and its role as an educational tool for young users. Still, the agency stressed that strict monitoring is needed to prevent risks such as Online Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Children (OSAEC).
Parents and guardians are reminded to stay involved in their children’s online activities. While constant supervision is not always possible, families are encouraged to keep communication open and guide children toward responsible digital behavior.
