The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) said the reported ransomware attack on the Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) was a false positive. Checks showed no system compromise and no data breach.
DICT also handled two other incidents. The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) website had unauthorized access, while the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) site was defaced. Emergency steps were taken for DMW, including stronger access controls and system isolation. For DOLE, DICT worked with IT teams to fix unauthorized changes.
Initial reviews confirmed that no sensitive databases or personal information were exposed. Both DMW and DOLE web services were taken offline for forensic checks and root-cause analysis. Restoration is ongoing.
DICT Secretary Henry Aguda added that a bill banning social media access for minors is expected to pass the Senate within two months. Meta will comply once the law is in place.
Aguda stressed that government agencies are prepared against cyberattacks. Most attempts have been stopped, though some, like the attack on MARINA, are still being addressed.

DICT said it will continue to monitor and secure government systems to keep public services safe from future threats.
