Google launched the official Gemini app for Windows, bringing its desktop AI assistant directly to Windows 10 and Windows 11 users worldwide. The new desktop application runs alongside your active programs to help you get work done faster.
You can open the tool over any active window by pressing Alt + Space on your keyboard. This shortcut gives you instant access to search facts, ask questions, or write drafts without closing your current work.
The software includes a dedicated workspace built for deep tasks. You can use Gemini Spark as your AI assistant to handle multi-step tasks for you. The app can also pull content directly from Google Drive and Gmail to build project summaries. You can even generate images using Nano Banana and create videos using Gemini Omni.
Google made the app lightweight and quiet so it will not slow down your desktop performance. You can download the software today for free at gemini.google/desktop.
