Apple is internally testing new 14-inch and 16-inch touchscreen MacBook Pro models with OLED panels running macOS 27.1 beta. Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman said these flagship laptops are now target launch products for late 2026.
The upcoming laptops signal a major shift for Apple’s line of computers. Sources report the machines will feature M5 Pro and M5 Max chips built on an upgraded architecture.
The new models will have touch-enabled tandem OLED displays for brighter, more vivid visuals, along with a significantly thinner chassis design. Apple is also replacing the traditional screen notch with a Dynamic Island camera cutout, and the laptops could even pack built-in cellular connectivity support.
Apple plans to position these touchscreen laptops above standard MacBook Pro models. Buyers can expect a higher price tag for the extra features. Standard MacBook Pro models will move to M7 Pro and M7 Max processors in 2027.
Reports suggest Apple could use MacBook Ultra branding for this new high-end tier. This will separate touch models from entry options like the MacBook Air.
