Apple is facing customer frustration after the launch of the iPhone Duo. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman says the company reserved most of its initial inventory for walk-in buyers at physical stores.
According to the report, Apple allocated about 80% of its launch weekend stock to retail locations. That left only 20% available for online pre-orders and scheduled store pickups.
This appeared to have contributed to shipping delays for many customers who ordered online. Some buyers who placed orders early were left waiting for deliveries, while shoppers visiting Apple Stores were able to purchase the devices immediately.
The stock allocation strategy resulted in limited online inventory, creating longer wait times during the first days of availability.
At the same time, Apple addressed early hardware complaints involving the iPhone Duo. The company recently distributed new service notes to technicians to help inspect reports of inner display cracks on some devices.
This should help service teams determine whether affected screens qualify for standard repair procedures. Apple has not provided additional details about the reported cases, but the move suggests the company is already monitoring feedback from early users.
