DepEd to receive 170,000 MacBook Neos from Apple

Apple is set to supply 170,000 MacBook Neos to the Department of Education (DepEd) in the Philippines as part of a new agreement to support digital learning in public schools. The rollout will cover students, teachers, and school personnel across the country.

The deal was announced during Apple’s Q4 2026 earnings call. According to the company, it is the largest education agreement for Macs and the biggest deployment yet for the MacBook Neo lineup.

The laptops will be distributed through the DepEd Computerization Program (DCP). Apple said the rollout will reach more than 16,400 public K-12 schools nationwide.

Education Secretary Sonny Angara said the initiative is an investment in improving education and giving teachers better tools in the classroom. The program will help schools gain access to updated technology for learning and daily school operations.

Apple describes the MacBook Neo as its most affordable laptop. It comes with the A18 Pro chip, all-day battery life, a fanless aluminum design, built-in security features, and productivity apps.

Teachers who take part in the program will also get access to the Apple Education Community. The platform lets educators find and share lesson plans and other classroom resources.

The announcement comes as technology procurement in schools continues to draw public attention. Previous laptop purchases under government programs faced criticism over reports of overpriced devices that were seen as underpowered for their intended use.

In the Philippines, the MacBook Neo, which launched at ₱39,990, now starts at ₱49,990.
