The budget phone is priced modestly at just PHP 5,990. It will be available for pre-order from May 22 to 31, 2020. It is bundled with freebies worth PHP 3,180 that includes a Bluetooth headset, 15GB Huawei cloud storage for 1 year, and VIU premium access for 3 months.
We recently got our review unit in black. Today we’re doing a quick unboxing along with some of our first impressions.

Unboxed, first impressions
The Huawei Y6p comes in the usual white box with an image of the device in front. Inside, you have the handset, a micro USB cable, a 5V 2A travel charger, documentation, a SIM eject tool, and a pre-installed screen protector. Our review unit did not come with a silicone case, but I was told the retail box will include one.

Looking at the Y6p, you get a simple looking phone with clean aesthetics. It’s nothing fancy, but looks to be in line with its price. At the front, we have a large 6.3-inch display with a dewdrop notch for the front camera. The screen has a 720p resolution (HD+). It has thin side bezels and a noticeable chin. The phone also has a long 20:9 profile, lending itself well to watching videos and media.
The Huawei Y6p has a plastic build with shiny back. It has a good size, fitting nicely in the hand with dimensions measuring in at 159.07 x 74.06 x 9.04 mm, and a light 185 g.

On the Huawei Y6p’s right are the volume rockers and the power button. While on the left we have the SIM tray with three slots for two SIMs and one for a microSD card. The headphone jack, microUSB port, and a mono speaker is at the bottom.
Moving to the back, there are three rear cameras, namely a 13MP main, a 5MP ultra-wide and a 2MP depth sensors. The ultra-wide camera has a 120-degree ultra-wide angle lens.

That’s it for our initial hands-on review. For PHP 5,990, the Huawei Y6p is shaping up to be quite the budget phone. It will be available for pre-order starting May 22 to 31, 2020 on the official Huawei store on Lazada and Shopee.
