Downdetector: Facebook Messenger is down

TL;DR: Reports on Downdetector say Facebook Messenger is having issues, down for some users.

If you’re having problems with Facebook Messenger, then you are not alone. Users are running to Downdetector to report the messaging platform is down.

In the last few hours, reports have spiked as high as 172 with issues pertaining to non-receipt, delayed, and unsent messages.

A quick look at Twitter corroborates the issue, affecting different countries including the Philippines. Not all users are affected (I have not experienced any issues so far).

At this point, the reason for the outage is still not clear. The most reported problems include 59-percent for related to receiving messages, 25-percent related to connection to server, and 14-percent related to log-in concerns.

We’ll update this post once we get more information about the issue.
