Top 5 features we love on the ASUS Zenfone 8 5G

Here are the top 5 features we love on ASUS’s latest flagship, the Zenfone 8 5G.

The Zenfone 8 5G is the latest flagship from ASUS. The phone comes with 5G connectivity, a compact body, and an impressive set of specs befitting flagships, all for a starting price of just Php 34,995.

In this article, we’re not going to go through the spec sheet, ticking off what it offers. Instead, we’re listing the top 5 features that we like most on the new ASUS Zenfone 8 5G. Believe us, choosing only 5 was a lot harder than we thought.

Let’s get started.

Top 5 specs and features

1. Size does matter

One of the Zenfone 8’s most charismatic features is its size. The phone measures in at 148 x 68.5 x 8.9 mm and packs a 5.9-inch display.

Compared to most phones in the market right now, the Zenfone 8 is downright tiny and compact in today’s standards of 6.4-inch and up devices. In fact, its about the same size as an iPhone 12, only narrower.

With its size, the Zenfone 8 can be navigated easily with one hand and fits most pockets. Its comfortable to hold, unobtrusive, and modest to look at.

2. Flagship power

Despite the size, the Zenfone 8 is one of the most powerful flagship in the market. Its equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 processor with up to 12GB LPDDR5 RAM and up to 256GB UFS 3.1 storage. In addition, you also get a 5G modem for lightning fast mobile internet connection.

Battery capacity is 4000mAh, which is more than enough given its size. You can expect all-day use with it. It also comes with 30W quick charge support that can top up the phone up to 60-percent in just 25 minutes.

3. A definite treat for your ears

The Zenfone 8 comes with one of the best speakers on any mobile phone. Its stereo speakers are driven by two Cirrus Logic CS35L45 Mono audio amplifiers with DIRAC HD optimizations that result in higher volume, wider dynamic range, deeper bass, and an overall richer sound.

ASUS also equipped the phone with a 3.5mm headphone jack. This is great for those who prefer wired headphones, since, for the most part, they do sound better and are a lot cheaper.

But if you prefer to go wireless, the Zenfone 8 is also equipped with Bluetooth 5.2 that supports LDAC, Qualcomm aptX, aptX HD, aptX Adaptive, and AAC codecs.

4. Eyes on the screen

This a true flagship display. A compact-sized 5.9-inch AMOLED display features a fast 120Hz refresh rate and a 240Hz touch report rate with a 1ms response time. The panel is from Samsung, which we all know makes one of the best displays on the market.

The screen is plenty bright, even outdoors. It comes with a 112-percent DCI-P3 color gamut, and an industry-leading Delta-E < 1 color accuracy that brings videos and images to life. What’s more, also has HDR10+ certification for more detail in dark scenes.

All that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus.

5. Photo perfect

And at number five, we have the Zenfone 8’s cameras. The phone has a dual setup with a 64MP main and a 12MP ultra-wide at the back, and a single 12MP shooter in front.

The main camera is backed by a 1/1.7-inch Sony IMX686 sensor with an F/1.8 aperture lens and optical image stabilization. It uses Quad Bayer technology to output 16MP photos.

The ultra-wide camera has a Sony IMX363 sensor, which also doubles as a 4cm macro. While the selfie camera has Sony IMX663 sensor with autofocus.

There’s no zoom on board, but it’s compensated with a 2x lossless zoom, achieved by cropping a 64MP photo. The camera can also capture 8K@24fps, 4K@60fps, and 4K@30fps videos.

Conclusion

Just by its size, one might think less of the Zenfone 8. But a closer look reveals a powerful phone with flagship specs and features, with a price tag that’s hard to match.

That being said, the ASUS Zenfone 8 is a definite winner with a lot to offer. It’s a definite breath of fresh air from the current crop of giant phones that populate the market.
