LOL Wild Rift Women’s Team earns first PH esports gold medal at 31st SEA Games

The Philippines’ Women’s LOL Wild Rift team delivers the country’s first esports gold medal at the 31st Southeast Asian Games.

The squad, GrindSky Eris, dominated their rivals from Singapore. The PH team, composed of Christine “RAY RAY” Natividad, Rose Ann “HELL GIRL” Robles, Charize “YUGEN” Doble, Giana “JEEYA” Llanes, April “AEAE” Sotto, and Angel “ANGELAILAILA” Lozada, was the favorites to win from the start when they won Southeast Asia Esports Championship 2021 Wild Rift Women’s Tournament last January.

Singapore takes the silver medal, and SEA Games host Thailand the bronze.

On their way to the finals, GrindSky Eris took out Thailand 3-1 in the semifinals. The squad also ran through the group stages in a dominant fashion.

LF Adoption, the country’s Men’s LOL Wild Rift team, was unable to make it to the semifinals on their leg of the tournament.
