The Department of Transportation has overhauled 69 MRT train cars, nearing its goal of overhauling all 72 train cars in its maintenance yard.
“All in all, just three of the 72 trains of the MRT-3 are undergoing repairs as part of our maintenance program,” they announced.
According to the MRT-3 management, train cars should undergo maintenance repairs due to daily use to ensure the safety of their passengers. Speed and quality checks of the overhauled trains are also conducted before they are put back into service.
The MRT-3 deploys up to 20 trains per day to accommodate the growing number of commuters who use their service, especially now with more and more people coming back to face-to-face school and on-site work.
