With deadline looming, over 20% of SIM cards registered so far

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) reports that 34,851,023 SIM cards have been registered so far, or 20.62 percent of the 168,977,773 total SIM cards in the Philippines, as of February 20, 2023.

During the SIM Registration press conference on February 20 in Makati, the DICT urged PTEs to increase their capacity in spreading awareness of SIM Registration. There are two months left before the set deadline of April 26, 2023.

DICT Undersecretary and Spokesperson Anna Mae Yu Lamentillo also lauded the telcos’ efforts to increase SIM registration, such as the assisted booths that have been set up in various malls.

Of the total, Smart Communications has registered 17,861,952 SIMs, Globe Telecom with 14,321,250 SIMs, and DITO Telecommunity with 2,667,821 SIMs.

The SIM Registration process began on December 27, 2022, in the Philippines. The DICT has announced that the deadline for SIM registration is on April 26, 2023. For details on how to register your SIM cards, go here.
