The Department of Information and Technology (DICT) announced the SIM registration deadline is on April 26, 2023. Unregistered SIMs after the deadline will be automatically deactivated.
SIM card registration started on December 27, 2022, marred with various issues including downed portals and other errors. Despite this, over three million SIM cards across all telcos were registered during the first two days alone.
As of January 11, a total of 17,698,340 SIM cards have been registered. Of that number, Smart reported 8,367,752 SIMs registered, which is 12.31 percent of its 67,995,734 subscribers. Globe reported 7,764,786 SIMs registered, around 8.84 percent of its 87,873,936 subscribers. And finally, DITO Telecommunity reported a total of 1,565,802 SIMs registered, which is 11.95 percent of its 13,108,103 subscribers.
