Apple announced the new iOS 17 at the recently concluded WWDC 2023 event. Slated for a September 2023 release, the latest version of its iPhone operating system will bring a host of new features and improvements, including personalized phone calls, interactive widgets, enhanced privacy settings, and a new full-screen experience.
Like any update, not all iPhones will be able to run iOS 17. According to Apple’s website, only the following models will be compatible with the new software:
- iPhone 14
- iPhone 14 Plus
- iPhone 14 Pro
- iPhone 14 Pro Max
- iPhone 13
- iPhone 13 mini

This means if you own any of the older models, such as the iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 7, you will not be able to get iOS 17. You will, however, still receive security updates and bug fixes, but you’ll miss out on the new features and enhancements.
If you own one of these older models and want to enjoy iOS 17, you may want to consider upgrading to a newer iPhone. Apple recently released the yellow color for both the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, a mid-cycle refresh meant to boost the sales of the lineup.
