Smart and TNT lead SIM Registration with 80% of subscribers registered

The PLDT wireless unit secures nearly all its wireless revenues with SIM Registration.

Smart Communications and value mobile brand TNT have achieved the highest percentage of registered subscribers among mobile operators in the Philippines.

The company said that as of July 30, the end of the five-day grace period for SIM Registration, 52.5 million subscribers, or 80% of its 65.7 million subscriber base have registered their SIM cards. This is the biggest percentage of registered subscribers versus their subscriber base among mobile operators in the country.

Moreover, Smart and TNT’s registered subscribers represent 99% of their active users, therefore securing nearly all the wireless revenues of the PLDT Group.

“We are grateful for the overwhelming response of our subscribers who heeded our call to register their SIM. We thank all our subscribers for their continued trust and loyalty, which we hope to reciprocate by consistently delivering the best customer experience possible powered by our fastest and best mobile network,” said Alfredo S. Panlilio, President and CEO of PLDT and Smart.

“Through SIM Registration, we also support the government’s digitalization efforts by helping ensure that mobile and digital services are inclusive and accessible for all,” added Panlilio, who is also a founding member of the Digital Infrastructure group of the government-mandated Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC).

“Our high success rate would not have been possible without our strong collaboration with the National Telecommunications Commission, DICT, Department of Interior and Local Government, various local government units, organizations, and our many partners who made this happen,” said Francis E. Flores, SVP and Head of Consumer Business Group – Individual at Smart.

Smart and TNT started their SIM Registration for subscribers on December 26 with an aggressive educational campaign and by rolling out assisted SIM Registration booths across the country, including far-flung areas. Smart also launched its ‘’Mag-SIM Reg para hindi SIM Dead‘ campaign, which went viral and effectively convinced millions of subscribers to register.
