Smart Communications has partnered with Ericsson and Meta to improve the quality of Messenger calls in the Philippines. The collaboration focused on optimizing Smart’s live mobile network, particularly in Luzon, where millions of users rely on Messenger for daily communication.
The improvements are measurable. Round‑trip time (RTT), which affects call delays, dropped by 24.6 percent. Packet loss, a common cause of call interruptions, fell by 55 percent.
Video bitrate increased by nearly 20 percent, resulting in sharper and more stable video calls. These changes make voice and video conversations smoother and more reliable.
While the project was designed with Messenger in mind, the benefits extend to other calling apps that use the same network. Smart emphasizes its commitment to raising service quality and delivering better everyday experiences for subscribers.
