Voice talent and content creator Inka Magnaye has added another feather to her cap. She is set to voice the Scarab, an alien artifact that grants superpowers to the titular hero of DC’s upcoming movie Blue Beetle.

Magnaye announced the news on her social media accounts, expressing her excitement and gratitude for the opportunity. She said she was honored to be part of the first DC movie to feature a Latino lead character, played by Xolo Maridueña.

“I am wildly honored to announce that I will be the voice of the scarab for the Philippine theatrical release of DC’s new movie, Blue Beetle” Magnaye wrote. “It’s been one of my big dreams to be a canon part of a superhero world, and now I get to share this wonderful news with all of you!”

Magnaye is no stranger to voice acting, as she comes from a family of voice talents. Her mother, Lindy, voiced the Philippine Airlines’ announcements in the past, while her aunt, Neneng, is the voice behind the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) announcements on television and in cinemas. Her father, Gerry Magnaye, is a veteran radio announcer and voice-over artist who has been in the voice-over industry for almost 40 years.

Magnaye has also lent her voice to various commercials, documentaries, podcasts, and audiobooks. She is also a content creator who shares tips and insights about voice-over work on her TikTok and YouTube channels.

Blue Beetle is directed by Angel Manuel Soto and written by Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer. It also stars Adriana Barraza, Damián Alcázar, Raoul Max Trujillo, Susan Sarandon, and George Lopez. The movie is based on the DC Comics character Jaime Reyes, a teenager who becomes the superhero Blue Beetle after bonding with the Scarab.

The movie is scheduled to be released in theaters on August 18, 2023. It will be the fourteenth installment in the DC Extended Universe (DCEU), a shared media franchise that includes films like Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and The Suicide Squad.
